Privacy Policy

Effective June 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ascension Auto Repair LLC (“Ascension,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Ascension web application and the Ascension mobile app (together, the “Service”). The Service is a workplace tool for independent auto repair shops and their staff.

Who controls your information

Ascension provides the Service to auto repair shops (“Shops”). For the account information of Shop staff who sign in, Ascension acts as the controller of that information. For the repair-order, customer, and vehicle records that a Shop’s management system sends into the Service, Ascension acts as a processor on the Shop’s behalf — the Shop decides how that data is used, and questions about it should be directed to the Shop.

Information we collect

Account information. Your name, email address, a securely hashed password, and your role and membership within a Shop.

Content you create. Messages, photos, videos, and other attachments you send through in-app chat, along with notes and entries you add to the Service.

Shop and repair data. Repair orders, customer names and contact details, and vehicle information (including VINs) that flow into the Service from a Shop’s management software so the Service can present the Shop’s work. This data is provided and controlled by the Shop.

Device and notification data. When you enable push notifications we store a device push token; we also collect basic device and app information (operating system, app version) needed to deliver and support the app.

Usage and log data. IP address, timestamps, and diagnostic logs generated when you use the Service, used for security and troubleshooting.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
  • deliver chat messages, push notifications, and the Shop’s work board;
  • retrieve vehicle data by VIN from our automotive-data provider;
  • authenticate users, secure accounts, and prevent abuse; and
  • provide support and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How information is shared

We share information only as needed to run the Service: with the Shop you belong to; with service providers who process data on our behalf (cloud hosting and database, mobile push delivery via Apple and Google, our automotive-data provider for VIN lookups, and the chat-media providers that power in-app GIFs and messaging); and when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public. Service providers are bound to use the information only to provide services to us.

Data retention

We keep account and content information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Shop and repair data is retained according to the Shop’s arrangement with Ascension. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, subject to legal retention requirements.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address vulnerabilities promptly.

Your choices and rights

You can update your account details from within the app and disable push notifications from your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To make a request, contact us using the details below; for Shop and repair data, contact your Shop, which controls that information. For step-by-step instructions on deleting your account and what is deleted versus retained, see Delete your account.

Children

The Service is a workplace tool intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.

Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
